Job Description Ventilator Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
The Ventilator Coordinator is a Respiratory Therapist / Nurse who provides medical equipment to patients with cardiopulmonary and other complex conditions, following physician prescriptions and company protocols. This role involves equipment management, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure quality care in compliance with regulatory standards. Primary responsibilities include managing and facilitating the ventilator referral process for patients transitioning from acute care facilities to home care settings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Adhere to company policies and all relevant state and federal regulations.
· Obtain and record physician orders for respiratory equipment.
· Schedule and conduct patient visits and safety evaluations of home environments.
· Acts as the primary point of contact for the delivery, setup, and training of new ventilator patients and their caregivers.
· Educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on equipment assembly, use, and maintenance.
· Perform and document equipment setup, delivery, retrieval, and maintenance at patient homes and healthcare facilities.
· Monitor equipment performance and ensure proper function; arrange for repairs as needed.
· Act as a liaison between patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams.
· Participate in performance improvement initiatives and on-call rotations.
· Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure proper company vehicle upkeep.
· Assist with discharge planning and coordinate care with physicians and healthcare teams.
· Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
· Promote company services through participation in professional events.
· Complete other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certificate, and Licensure
Graduated from an accredited educational program, college, or technical institution; RRT or CRT meets the national accrediting and state licensing requirements. RN or LPN meets the national accrediting and state licensing requirements. Three to six months professional experience and/or training; Active State Respiratory Care Practitioner or Active State Nursing Licenses in DC, DE, MD, VA, and WV; Board Certification, as appropriate.
Requirements
Must demonstrate practical knowledge of computers, software, and products applicable to the industry. Additionally, the applicant is expected to demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures. Valid
driver’s license with a clean driving record. Applicant will be required to have, at time of hire and annually, Tuberculosis testing and an Influenza vaccine. At hire, Hepatitis B screening, vaccination, or declination will be required. Other vaccinations and or testing will be added at the company’s discretion. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision. Overnight travel may be required.
Supervisory Requirements
Must demonstrate proficient ability to mentor and provide proper instruction and training to department technicians and/or assistants.
Math Ability
Must demonstrate proficient ability to apply mathematical concepts such as basic algebra and geometry to such tasks as calculating figures and amounts, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume to practical situations.
Language and Communication Ability
Must demonstrate proficient ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations and effectively present and debate any assortment of information relevant to their area of expertise and designated responsibilities and duties with members of the Company and on behalf of the Company when appropriate. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Physical Demands
Must demonstrate the ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, which may include but is not limited to: computers, fax and copy machines, and other office supplies. Requires stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift 50 pounds from a squatting to standing position; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time. Additionally, the employee is occasionally required to walk and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Reasoning Ability
Must demonstrate the ability to understand, apply, and interpret an extensive array of information, variables, and instruction where only limited standardization exists to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Technology Skills
Must demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of personal computer use, word processing software and system software. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks.
ORIENTATION
Successfully complete the Company orientation program within 90 days of employment. Familiarity with all administrative policies and procedures as they relate to the job description. During the initial 90-day training/orientation period, the employee will gain this knowledge via training by qualified Company staff members, continuing education/in-service, off-site training and/or independent study of the policies and procedures manual. Employee competence in Company policies and procedures will be certified, in writing, by the supervisor or other qualified/designated individual. Evidence of certification will be maintained in the individual personnel file or in the Company’s continuing education/in-service file.
OTHER INFORMATION
Must demonstrate proficiency and productivity in a fast-paced environment with unscheduled interruptions while maintaining acceptable judgment, responsibility, and assumption for decisions, consequences, and results. Applicant must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills. Occasionally an adjusted work schedule is required to accommodate company needs.

ON-GOING EDUCATION
Staff must obtain the required number of continuing education credits to maintain credentials as required by their license. Staff must also attend all field-related in-services offered by the Company including, but not limited to, electronic communication equipment and copiers.
